Anterior and Posterior Composites
Full day hands-on course that will cover anterior and posterior composite, finishing and polishing, and the chemistry behind a great bonded restoration. The speaker is Ken Spatz.
His bio includes: 2 years as assistant manager in Dentsply/Caulk service department. 3 years as a representative selling materials out of the New York area. 12 years in a Caulk sales training position.

Forensic Dentistry Seminar
June 27, 2008 ODEFA, Kerr, 3M/ESPE, Orascoptic and Dentsply/Caulk sponsored a Forensic Dentistry Seminar in Columbus, Ohio at the Crowne Plaza North.This was an all day seminar from 8:30 - 4:30 and participants received 7
CE credits.
Franklin D Wright D.M.D., D-ABFO did an exceptional job presenting the course material and answering all questions from the participants. Dr. Wright's expertise in dentistry and dental forensics expanded all our minds where dentistry interacts with the law.
I received great reviews from the participants and several of them wanting to do a full day mass disaster workshop. There were 33 in attendance which included 22 ODEFA members, 4 dentist, 4 hygienist, 2 EFDA's non-members, and 1 assistant.
ODEFA raffled off several door prizes: starbucks, visa gift card, ODEFA CE Certificate, EFDA's Create Beautiful Smile's T-Shirts and a pair of orascoptic loops. Our dental sponsors were also on hand, with booths set-up outside the lecture hall to answer any questions, present dental materials and techniques to the participants. A light lunch was provided and catered by the Crowne Plaza North.

OSU's Linda Gibbens-West
Scholarship 2008 Winner
Kelly King was awarded the Linda Gibbens-West Scholarship on May 19th at The Ohio State University. She is a dental hygiene student at OSU who chose to EFDA training there also.
Kelly's application was very well written. She wrote "I feel confident that I can better recognize carious lesions as well as notify the doctor when a restoration needs to be addressed. I am able to answer patient questions regarding different restorative materials because I have experience working with them and have seen their success or failure. My career goals definitely include practicing expanded functions and especially volunteering to treat different socioeconomic and underserved patients."

On February 29, 2008 ODEFA hosted a continuing education hands- on course at the Sullivan-Schein building in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Jeff Angart was the speaker. We had a full house with 20 members and 8 non-members in attendance. Dr. Angart focused on anterior composites. The course was a success. Dr. Angart will be at the ODA in Columbus, you can attend his class there and see how great he is. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported ODEFA.
